Description

This script slices an object at regular intervals along the world axes.
Useful for quickly subdividing a complex mesh homogeneously, for vertex painting or to apply a bend modifiier to it for example.

- Added the distance feature.

Update 15/06/2017, Version 1.2:

- The script is now running way faster.

Update 08/03/2019, Version 1.2.2:

- Fixed the .mzp file.
- The default number of slices is now 1.

Additional Info

How it works

• Just drag n drop the .ms file into the 3DS Max viewport

• Or drag n drop the .mzp file into the 3DS Max viewport, and then in Customize > Customize user interface, you'll find this script under the N00BY category

• Select an object then click "Preview"

• Adjust the number of slices you want or the distance between them

• Set the axis along which you want to slice the object by clicking the "X", "Y" or "Z" button

• Then click "Accept"

General informations

• If your object's local pivot is not aligned with the world axes, you'll need to check "Reset XForm before slicing" ;)

• When changing the number of slices, the distance value will auto-update and vice versa ;)

Works good, thank you :)

Really like this in MAX 2017 works nice.

I couldn't get the MZP to install and set up the category in MAX2017 but I opened it in script editor and dragged to toolbar. Ridiculous handy for many modeling uses.

Try using this along with Rapid Spline Deformer script. NICE!

Years....

Glad I could help :)

Hi, you should add "max create mode" because in mofify mode the slice modifiers slow down the script.

Hi, I've done what you said it's way faster now, thank you for telling me.
I didn't know about it, I used to switch to create mode manually ^^
Cheers :)

Smart tool!
I would like to suggest that you add a distance option, like this:
* slices
* distance
