Modo selections style in 3ds max. Assign a hotkey(or button), select 2 verts/edges/faces woth desired gap between them and start pressing your hotkey. :)
Instalation: Drag-n-drop StepGapVEPRingLR.mzp and StepGapVEPRingLR.mzp in 3ds max. Go to Customize - Customize User Interface. Under "miauu" category you will find "Step Gap VEP Ring Left-Right" and "Step Gap VEP Ring Right-Left"

The reason of this error is that you don't have administrator rights for win7 or max2010.
Install script manualy;
- unzip the .mzp file and:
- go to maxroot/scripts folder and create a new folder with name "miauu_Scripts"(without quotes)
- copy the *.mse file into that folder
- drag and drop the Macro_*.mcr fiele in 3ds max.
Try to find the script in Customize-Customize User Interface - "miauu" caegory. If the script is not there, restart max and try find it again in the same directory.

edges worked properly
vertices...do you always have to select two vertices along an edge? would be great if you could just select one.
faces didn't work properly for me, first it would just deselect and then would get weird unwanted selections.
