Works, but extremely slow.

Hi,
I am exporting a moderately complex object (490,130 verts) and it took 9 hours to do. This is unworkable as I need to perform many such operations.
Do you have any tips for speeding up the export? Is there anything I need to make sure is right with the mesh?
