Sticky Key for Snapping

Hi,

Ive been using DRaster's Switcher for Max for years until i upgraded to Max2016 recently. One of Switcher's features is being able to add "sticky" shortcuts (for example, holding down on "x" to snap to the grid, releasing the "x" key the snapping turns off).

Is there a way to achieve this with maxscript or some other trick, or does a plugin or something have to be written?
