I need a script for a 2d fire look in 3ds max

By anaStudio · 2010-11-04

Description

hey guys..

i'm working in a 2d feature length movie...
and i'm responsible of all the shots of fire, oceans, ship and battles...
which created in 3d but must look like 2d...

so anyone could create a tool/preset for 2d fire that could be manipulated to simulate the behaviour and render from a candle to a large fire in ships with sails...

please ,we need it badly..
please refer to any commercial plugin in the market that can do this..

thanx again

@ draging
thanx man, and sorry for being late,
I've seen this plugin before, but the best one that gave me the result I needed was "Cebas finaltoon"

This was from a reply on an earlier post

this is what we can do so far..
don't pay attention to the big fire..
look at the small flame on the arrow, created using particle flow and blob mesh with some modifiers on it, then rendered by final toon...this look was approved after some duplication and compositing stuff using any compositing software..

but my problem is how to apply this to a big fire , or big flame , i mean how to script this procedure to get the desired look and behaviour without doing all this all again.

hi again,
why dont you post a picture of what you want it to look like, what exactly you mean by 'looking 3d' and i can tell you if i was on the right track

i meant if you want a commercial script of what i think you want i can deliver.

vector graphic?...

what about the 'old' style - using trace bitmaps to vector graphics? just suggestion ;)

@ graph..
i agree with you its really a lovely challenge..but when you are animating, rigging, simulating, creating oceans and other stuff, it can be a killing challenge...
hopefully...we are moving forward now

but i don't underdstand wht do you mean by "sprite",actually i can't understand what you said about the script part...

please explain it more..

thanx for paying attention

@ admin..
thx for reply and sorry for posting this in scripts section, i didn't know that there is a forum for such threads..
and i've tried fumeFX and after burn...the can create a 3d cartoony effect or - ofcourse - a realistic fire..
but i couldn't figure out how to make it look like 2d

luckily i know there arent any plugins out there that do this so i dont mind you "spoiling" the 2nd part of my post ^^ (bio)

btw thx for moving it

edit: made my tests and can develop the script part to automate the fume to sprite process

Moved from "Scripts"

FYI since this is more of a script request it has been moved to the forum.

To answer you question - you're asking for a lot when you mention a "candle to a large fire in ships with sails" ... I recommend looking at plugins like FumeFX, AfterBurn or Phoenix but they're also commercial tools.

On the free / cheap route you can do a lot with opacity mapped particle flow systems. There may be other plugins that I'm not aware of too. Check maxplugins.de and see what comes up for fire...

fumeFX to create a realistic fire (commercial plugin)

and then a script to render the fire to an img sequence, create a sprite, put texture on it and the image sequence as animated bitmap into that

sounds like a lovely challenge
