Scaling a road mesh to make it narrower.

Hey,

This is road and terrain for a racing sim.

In max i wanna make the road mesh (red polys in pic) narrower, without affecting terrain bordering road.It seems like it would be an easy thing to do , but its not ! lol

Anyone heard of a script that can do this?
