Of volumetric objects are selected, and click the "VOLUMETRIC SELECT" button.

Nice concept but script not works in max2014. I look your code but not undertand how this tool works. Can you explain a bit your idea.

Branko, the script works in max2014.
Create objects as in the first image - boxes and one sphere. Convert all to editable poly. Select the sphere(there will be boxes inside and outside of the sphere) and press the Volumetric Select button.
If the Window radiobutton is checked go to wireframe mode and you will see that all boxes inside the sphere are selected.
