It would be good if it optimized the spline. ie removed points on straight parts of the curve, and kept more points on curves.

Here you can define number of segments and NormalizeSpl. use length of segments.
To get even distributions of knots you need to divide curve length with number of segs to get segment length. Sounds familiar? :)
